GamerSafer Acquisition (February 27th, 2024)

  • stifflered becomes Product Manager of Minehut under GamerSafer.
  • Creation of the GamerSafer channel on Discord.

Abandoned Server Deletion (May 3rd, 2024)

  • On May 30th, 2024, servers not started in over a year will be permanently deleted.
  • Server names of these servers will also be released to players.
  • Owners of abandoned servers emailed to remind them to keep their server.
  • Owners of abandoned servers have the option to keep their server or download its files.

New Discord Roles & Server Name Cleanup (May 15th, 2024)

  • New Pingable Roles — To stay up to date with Minehut changes & events.
  • Server Name Cleanup — Cleaning up inappropriate server names.

Server Name Reservations (June 26th, 2024)

  • Over 3 million abandoned server names released to the public.
  • Increased the hardware capacity of paid servers by 20% to reduce server queues.
  • Avatar Items renamed to Cosmetics in the top menu.
  • Free servers can now download multiple files.
  • Website Accounts have now been fully migrated to the new login system.
  • Several bugs related to login confirmation emails fixed.

A New Lobby & More! (July 3rd, 2024)

In-Game Experience:
  • Introduced a brand new lobby, the Construction Lobby.
  • Introduced a fully refreshed compass menu.
  • A brand new Control Center menu for managing your servers, friends, tags, cosmetics, and settings.
  • Random join portal returns to the Minehut lobby.
  • 1.8 PvP category added to server categories for a test period.
  • All non-ranked players now get click-to-join feature on /ad.
  • Vote reward announcements now show a click-to-vote prompt when hovered over.
  • Added some helpful commands like /help, /support, /ranks, /tags, etc.
  • Tablist is now ordered based on rank.
  • In-game server creation time has been cut in half and onboarding is much easier with a new menu.
Website Experience:
  • The file manager now displays the size of folders.
  • There is now a dashboard warning for server owners using more than 85% of their server storage.
  • Improved the flow for changing your server version to decrease errors some users experience.
  • Upgrading and managing your server plan is much easier.
  • 1.21 Experimental can be selected (it is unstable and backups are recommended)
  • Server categories are now ordered alphabetically.
  • Wide variety of bugs fixed and other backend adjustments to improve performance across Minehut.

New Website & In-Game Changes (July 12th, 2024)

Website Changes:
  • Removed the automatic backup option when changing a server’s version to avoid confusion.
  • Added instructions on how to make a backup when changing a server’s version to avoid confusion.
  • Lots of changes to upgrade and downgrade messages to educate players on their server plans.
  • Credit purchasing page has “Manage Your Subscriptions” at the top for easy access.
  • Credit purchasing page shows the total number of credits needed each month to cover your paid server plans & ranks.
  • All credit subscriptions and server plan subscriptions consolidated in one place to avoid confusion.
  • Changing a server plan now has a note in the popup telling you if you have an active credit subscription to cover your paid plan each month.
  • Server plan auto-renew toggle removed to reduce confusion.(Servers with auto-renew already on will stay on until they toggle it off)
  • Server plans now clearly explain that they will use credits every month, unless the plan is downgraded to free, to reduce confusion.
  • Server plan labels changed in plan change dropdown to be more clear on what they mean.
  • New “Upgrade” menu item added to the server management view so it is not hard to find.
  • When clicking “Upgrade”, the current plan you have on that server is highlighted so you don’t have to remember what plan you already have.
  • Email notifications updated to reduce confusion.
  • Website home page is fixed.
In-Game Changes:
  • Paper 1.21 EXPERIMENTAL updated to build 62 (Backups still recommended)
  • The command /find now shows player tags.
  • Lobbies updated to 1.20.4. (Joinable on any version through ViaVersion)
  • Geyser updated to 1.21.20. (Affects Bedrock players)
  • More typos fixed and minor changes in the menus.
  • Players can no longer break boats in the lobby.
  • A bug relating to cosmetic auras was fixed.
  • Trimmed the overworld outside of the actual lobby.
  • Chat toast popup when switching servers removed.

1.21 Tricky Trials Update (July 22nd, 2024)

  • Paper 1.21 has been added as a server version.

Olympics Event & More (July 26th, 2024)

In-Game Changes:
  • New infinite parkour course.
  • New torch relay event, with a brand new tag called the Torch Bearer tag.
  • New fun pressure plates around the lobby.
  • Invisible players now properly have invisible cosmetics.
  • Players can see how many ads they have left in the Control Center menu.
  • Favoriting and Unfavoriting servers in the menu has a sound effect and chat message confirmation.
  • Retired tag in game has had its description fixed.
  • Fixed an issue that caused muting lobby chat and ads rarely.
  • Fixed a couple bugs causing auras and leashed cosmetics to not work consistently.
  • Fixed the Tags book going to the wrong menu on the Back option.
  • PvP and 1.8 PvP Category icons adjusted.
Website Changes:
  • You can now select 1.21 for your server.
  • When creating a new world on your server, the name can no longer be blank.
  • SFTP credentials area has been rebuilt to be easier to use.
  • Upgrading and Downgrading plans is much easier to do with a better step-by-step process.
  • Servers with plans that are scheduled to downgrade now show the date the current plan expires.
  • Fixed some issues relating to credit and subscription purchases.
  • Faster startup time of 1.21 servers with caching improvements.

August Update Batch (August 23rd, 2024)

In-Game Changes:
  • New /wiki command
  • Scoreboard removed numbers
  • Cosmetics updated to support 1.21 players
  • Falling off the parkour now teleports you right to the start so you can jump back in faster
  • New warnings feature added for our moderators to ping rule-breakers before a mute/ban
  • Servers created in-game, default randomly generated name, with 0 joins (even by the owner), no activity in more than 15 days, free plan, and not on a proxy will occasionally be purged
  • The factory workers have lobbied to get new scaffolding added around the place so you all can get to the upper levels
Website Changes:
  • The "Create Server" popup is improved to allow server owners to select version and server type before creation
  • New quick links added to the server settings card (Contact Support, GS Defender, and Minehut Servers Discord)
  • File Manager has improved performance and reduced risk of OOM crashes
  • File Manager now estimates the size of very large folders with many files instead of perfectly calculating the size
  • An error message now appears if the server is not fully started yet in the file manager
  • Sub-users are nearly ready
  • Clicking the "Change Proxy" option on a server shows more helpful information
  • Choosing "New Proxy" in the dropdown now shows a more helpful modal instead of redirecting to the server plans upgrade page (which was confusing)
  • Server list dashboard now replaces the "Change Proxy" text with the applicable proxy name if a server is already connected to one
  • Improved server downloads and speed on startup
  • Optimized backups system and added better handling of errors

Sub-Users are here! (August 29th, 2024)

  • Sub-users finally released on Minehut, after 4 years of waiting by the community.
  • Sub-users initially rolled out to paid server plans only while it was being improved.
  • New cosmetics released.
  • Old cosmetics brought back to the Minehut Cosmetics store.
  • Boops counter added to the scoreboard.
  • All servers still pending deletion finally deleted.
  • Networking adjustments to help external server connections.
