Overview

Overcast Community (OCC) is a Minecraft Network established on December 22, 2019. It is known for providing a fun, competitive gaming experience focused primarily on Player vs Player (PvP) gameplay. The network offers a variety of custom-built maps, fostering a tight-knit community of dedicated Minecraft players who enjoy challenging each other in team-based environments.

History

The Overcast Community was founded with the mission to revive and modernize the legacy of Overcast Network (OCN), a popular Minecraft PvP server that inspired many competitive gaming styles. After the closure of the original OCN, former administrators ElectroidFilms and Brottweiler came together to recreate the experience and provide a new platform where players could enjoy classic game modes like Capture the Flag, Destroy the Monument, and Team Deathmatch, along with newly introduced game modes that have come out since.

Game Modes and Features

Overcast Community offers a wide array of competitive PvP game modes, each designed to promote team-based strategies and skill development. Popular modes include:

• Capture the Flag (CTF): Teams compete to capture the opponent’s flag and bring it back to their base, promoting both offensive and defensive strategies.

• Destroy the Monument (DTM): Players must break into the opposing team’s monument and destroy it while defending their own.

• Team Deathmatch (TDM): Classic PvP where the objective is to eliminate the other team's players, earning points for every elimination.

• Destroy the Core (DTC): Teams must infiltrate the opposing team’s base and destroy a highly protected obsidian core while preventing their own core from being broken.

• Blitz: A fast-paced game mode where players have only one life to achieve victory within a limited time.

• Rage: An even more intense version of Blitz, where players are eliminated in just one hit.

Community and Events

Overcast Community prides itself on fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment where both new and veteran players can thrive. Regular events, such as tournaments, staff-run weekly events, and seasonal updates, keep the player base engaged and allow for new strategies and experiences to unfold.

The server also features a bi-monthly Battle Pass offering exclusive rewards based on the amount of "raindrops" earned. Popular events include TNT Tuesdays and Funky Fridays, where staff members delight the community with fun maps and unique gameplay experiences, keeping the action fresh and exciting.

Development and Infrastructure

Overcast Community is maintained by a dedicated team of developers and moderators who work to keep the network fresh, balanced, and bug-free. At its core is PGM (PvP Game Manager), a plugin originally developed for Overcast Network and open-sourced after its closure. New features are added almost weekly by a passionate group of maintainers. Over time, additional software has been developed to enhance the OCC experience.

The server is hosted on a powerful, 24/7 dedicated server, ensuring reliable performance. Community feedback plays a crucial role in shaping new features and game modes, ensuring the server evolves with its player base.
